Built for NAMM 2026 – Available Now

Since the beginning, it has been a goal of ours to provide premium instruments for left-handed players. This Thunderhorse is the first-ever McGrath Guitars lefthanded bass available for purchase. Built as a showpiece for NAMM 2026, this is a rare opportunity to own a world-class instrument with a classic aesthetic and modern performance. The price will be in line with right handed models after Namm.

Tone & Electronics

For this first lefty build, I wanted to keep the electronics classic and powerful. It features a versatile EMG trio paired with a high-headroom 18V system.

  • Pickups: EMG TBHZ, Reverse PHZ, and JHZ configuration.

  • Preamp: EMG BQ30 3-band EQ.

  • Controls: Master Volume (Push/Push for Active/Passive bypass) and Switchcraft sliders for precise pickup selection.

  • Power: 18V system powered by two 9V batteries, easily accessible from the back.

Premium Wood & Construction

  • Body: One-piece Mahogany. I chose mahogany for its rich, warm resonance and incredible weight relief.

  • Weight: An ultra-comfortable 7.4 lbs—perfect for long sets and studio sessions.

  • Neck: Roasted Flame Maple neck and fretboard for superior stability and a smooth feel. 12" radius and 1.5" nut width.

  • Frets: Durable Stainless Steel

  • Stability: Dual carbon reinforcement rods with a two-way spoke nut truss rod.

Aesthetics & Hardware

  • Finish: Our fan-favorite "Black Sands," hand-painted by Madelyn with a matching headstock.

  • Hardware: All-nickel hardware, featuring a high-mass Badass bridge and matching tuners.

  • Pickguard: Simulated anodized black for a sleek, industrial look.

Included with Purchase

  • Professional Gator Gig Bag.

  • Freshly strung with LaBella RX Nickels (45-105).
