Billy Sheehan has spent five decades rewriting what a rock bass can do, from Talas and David Lee Roth's band to Mr. Big, Niacin, The Winery Dogs and Sons of Apollo. His fast tapping, chords and lead lines put the bass out front, and his split rig, with the neck pickup going to one amp and the P/J to another, is a sound all its own.

Billy reached out to order a Thunderhorse, and we designed the layout with him: DiMarzio pickups, his signature dual output jacks, a push-pull tone for the neck pickup, a mini three-way toggle by the top knob for the P and J, and Hipshot hardware all round, including a Bass Xtender.

One of my favorite bass players and one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. Aongus is a Dublin-based bassist, producer and songwriter. He started out in Dublin guitar-pop band PictureHouse, went on to the Sharon Shannon Big Band alongside guests like Shane MacGowan, Imelda May, Damien Dempsey and Mundy, and has spent the past nine years as a full-time member of The Waterboys, touring and recording around the world.

Most recently he plays on Joe Bonamassa's Live from Cork: The Spirit of Rory, celebrating the music of Rory Gallagher.

Chris runs The Bass Channel on YouTube, where he reviews, demos and talks gear with bass players all over the world.

The Thunderhorse was his idea. We developed it together, and it's now our flagship: a Thunderbird pickup at the neck, a reverse P in the middle and a J at the bridge, all on one bass.
