The J-Style body shape is the newest evolution in the McGrath range. Engineered with player comfort as the priority, it features deep contours and a perfectly balanced design to eliminate neck dive while offering a sculpted heel for effortless access to the higher register. When developing the J-Style, the goal was to maintain the full suite of custom options found on the Rebel and Thunderhorse models. To streamline the lineup, the original body shape has been transitioned to the P-Style, with the Thunderhorse name now representing the signature three pickup configuration made famous through our collaboration with The Bass Channel on YouTube.

Triple Threat Tone

This instrument is equipped with three EMG passive HZ ceramic pickups where each is controlled by a dedicated Switchcraft on and off slider for 7 tonal combinations. The electronics feature an EMG BQ30 three band EQ running at 18 volts for massive headroom. The master volume includes a push pull function for a true bypass active or passive switch which provides an instant emergency mute or a vintage passive voicing. The bridge pickup is in the 70s position.

Built for Performance

The neck pickup has been moved back 3/8 of an inch to create more landing zone for slapping without sacrificing deep neck position warmth. The construction consists of a lightweight and resonant solid mahogany body paired with a stunning roasted flame maple neck and a slab ebony fingerboard. For rock solid stability, the neck is reinforced with carbon fiber rods and features a two way spoke nut truss rod for easy adjustments on the fly.
