Building a Custom Bass for the Legendary Billy Sheehan

We recently had the incredible honor and opportunity to build a custom bass for the legendary Billy Sheehan!

When crafting an instrument for a trailblazer of bass guitar, every detail matters. Here is a look at the custom build and the top-tier hardware and electronics we packed into it:

Pickups & Electronics: We teamed up with DiMarzio for Billy's signature pickups and custom electronics. The setup features dual output jacks, a push-pull tone pot for the neck pickup, and a mini three-way toggle switch to blend the J and P pickups.

Hardware: Outfitted completely with Hipshot gear, including the bridge, tuners, D-Extender, and string retainer.

Strings: Strung up with Rotosound Billy Sheehan Signature strings.

Design & Concept: The overall design was built around our Thunderhorse concept, originally developed alongside The Bass Channel.
